There are no actresses in kabuki and instead, male actors play the female roles.  This is because, soon after kabuki originated, females were prohibited from performing on stage.  While there are actresses in taishu engeki and they play diverse roles on stage.

It is Hana!
Actors and actresses wear wooden clogs or Japanese sandals on stage.  However, they wear  their own shoes or sandals when they see off visitors outsaide.  Because their wooden clogs or Japanese sandals are special items for performance and used on stage only.

After school, I took my classmates to Mokuba-kan.
When we arrived at the theater around 4:15, there were some vacant seats.
However it became packed full soon.
It was the first time for my friends to see the performance of Taishu engeki.
They were so excited and seemed to open the new world.
